We hope everyone has been enjoying this holiday season. Rest is an important part of resistance as it allows us to avoid burn out, reevaluate goals and how to achieve them, and think up new ways to fight fascism.
Events in January:
- The first Blue Crew Social Hour of 2026 will be Tuesday January 6th at 6pm. This will be at World’s End Brewing at 331 Main St in Cañon City.
- Our first PROTEST will be on Saturday, January 24th 11AM – 1PM at the corner of 9th and Hwy 50 (please stay on the sidewalks and out of the park). This is a general protest so feel free to bring signs you already have or make a new one.
Going forward, unless there is a nationally organized protest, we will have one on the 4th Saturday of each month from 11-1. So block off those days this year. When there is a major organized protest, we will be doing those too. But we aren’t always given much advance notice.
- Our last January event will be our Community Gathering Potluck after the protest on Saturday, January 24th from 1 – 3PM. This monthly gathering will take place each month on the 4th Saturday at The Hive at 729 Main St in Cañon City.
Want to take some actions now? Here are some things you can do from home.
Concerned about AI using up our water resources and forcing our electric bills to skyrocket? Mad that even META will now train their AI models from everything you post on Facebook? Action Network has this link where you can put in your information to send our state representatives a letter demanding they regulate AI in Colorado.
ResistBot and 5Calls are also great resources to find campaigns and easy ways to contact your representatives. They have a lot of petitions and scripts available for you to use when you write or call those who represent us.
Important Changes to USPS (United States Postal Service)
This change affects bill payments, mail in ballots, tax returns, and more that rely on postmark dates. The USPS postmarks will no longer reflect when your mail gets collected. Postmark dates will now be when mail reaches a sorting machine at a regional center. This means a postmark may now reflect a date many days AFTER you put it in the mail. Please keep this in mind if you need to mail anything that places importance on the postmark date to ensure you avoid any late fees or deadlines to submit whatever it is you need to mail.
Thanks for a great year, Fremont County. We have seen a lot of growth. We are not alone in this fight and together we are Indivisible!
