Just a reminder that we WILL be protesting on Saturday the 28th of February from 11AM – 1 PM. This will be at the corner of 9th and Hwy 50.
Directly following, we will have the monthly Community Gathering Potluck from 1PM – 3PM . We will have postcards for writing our representatives and learning to knit the Melt The Ice hat. You can buy a copy of the pattern (all proceeds go to Immigrant Aid organizations to help those hurt by ICE in Minnesota), otherwise we will get that for you at the Community Gathering. Likewise, we will have some yarn and needles available for those who don’t have their own.
We are trying to make sure our big events are always listed on mobilize.us to help folks find it, but the protest/community gatherings are scheduled for the 4th Saturday of each month until otherwise noted.

*This training will be approximately 4 hours long. Lunch will be provided. The time and location is still to be determined. But feel free to mark the day on your calendar.
Things you can do from home:
The SAVE Act (in all its forms) is essentially a poll tax as it will require certain forms of identification for voting that not all Americans have or have access to. This voter suppression bill has passed the House, so please call Hickenlooper and Bennet’s offices and tell them you want them to vote no to all versions of the SAVE Act. As you may have heard, ICE was involved in yet another death this week. Linda Davis was a special education teacher on her way to a staff planning day in Georgia. Chatham County, GA has a no-chase policy but ICE once again ignored laws and chased a Guatemalan man through a school zone. As he fled, he crashed into Linda Davis’s car and killed her. While her death wasn’t due to masked men shooting her, she would still be alive if it weren’t for ICE’s complete disregard of local laws. Call our Senators and tell them to NOT CAVE on DHS funding. ICE agents are a menace in our communities with danger following everywhere they go.
