Hey Indivisiblers,
This is a busy weekend here in Fremont County. So here is a rundown of our events and how you can get involved.
This Saturday, November 22nd there are multiple events.
11 AM – 1 PM is the Thankful For Democracy visibility event at the corner of 9th & Hwy 50.
We can easily get overwhelmed by the constant attacks on our rights, so let’s celebrate the reasons we are standing up and saying no to an authoritarian government. Bring your positive signs sharing what you love about our democracy. (Note: The United States of America government is a Constitutional Republic run by means of a Representative Democracy)
1PM – 3PM we are hosting a Fremont County CO Indivisible Community Gathering.
Our hope is to host this monthly to give people a chance to meet community members while keeping people informed on what our group is doing and action items people can be taking. This is also a great way for people to share their ideas on how we can all better serve our community. This is a potluck and if you are interested in the details, please respond to this email with info on where this is being held and when you can drop off your food if you plan to attend the protest before.
We encourage you to bring food or cash donations to help our local food banks.
The food would be added to the effort of local businesses that gets passed out on Saturday mornings at The Hive. Cash donations will be given to Loaves and Fishes, Manna House, and the Falcon Pantry at CCMS. Loaves and Fishes is also collecting turkeys and other Thanksgiving sides if you prefer to give in that way too.
Your Voice Matters
After much pressure from voters across the country, the act to release the Epstein Files has passed both Congress (only a single person voted against it) and the Senate (by unanimous consent) before being signed by the President.
Next Actions
There is a national organized boycott for November 28 – December 2nd. Economic movements have been shown to be more effective with targeted focus, so during these major shopping days you are encouraged to NOT shop at Target, Home Depot, or Amazon. We highly encourage you to take that business to local shops and independent retailers instead. Nearly 20% of annual sales happen between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so let’s hit these billion dollar corporations where it hurts as a way to let them know we do not approve of their support of authoritarianism. If you want to find ways to extend this, check out the We Ain’t Buyin It event.
Let’s keep this momentum going because we are seeing the power of the people is stronger than the people in power!
