Celebrate With Indivisible: Newsletter

Hello Friends of Democracy,

It is like a broken record to say there has been a lot going on and it is normal to feel overwhelmed. But in the face of all of this, we are gathering as a community. It is in community that we have power. And in that power of community, we can heal our nation.

So what can we do as a community?

As we approach the season of holidays associated with sharing meals with families, members of our community are struggling to eat at all. In response, the Mutual Aid spoke is working with Loaves and Fishes in Cañon City, The Manna House in Florence, and the new Falcon Pantry at Cañon City Middle School. Everyone should have access to food and we can help make that a reality in our county. Our website has a resources tab with a list of Food Assistance Resources in Fremont County and their contact info. If you know of any more programs or organizations in our county, please do not hesitate to respond to this email with that info so we can add it to the list.

Upcoming Events

The Thankful For Democracy Event will be on Saturday, November 22nd from 11AM – 1PM at the corner of 9th and Hwy 50. Bring your POSITIVE signs as we gather to celebrate the joy of our movement. Let’s show our community the things we love about democracy to help remind everyone why we are keeping up this fight.

Following the visibility event, join us at the Fremont County CO Indivisible Community Gathering from 1pm – 3PM on Saturday, Nov 22nd. This potluck will be a great opportunity to meet others in our community and make new connections. There will be updates about what our Indivisible group is working on and actions you can take. Register on mobilize or email us for the details on location. NOTE: This is a separate event to the QUILTBAG Friendsgiving. If you’re in the QUILTBAG spoke, you should get another email with those details.

Boycotts

There are various economic actions you can take as well. Spotify has been airing recruiting ads for ICE. You can choose to not fund this choice by cancelling your subscriptions to Spotify. There is also a national call for an economic black out during the week after Thanksgiving – we encourage you to not spend money at Target, Home Depot, or Amazon that week. Instead, support local and independent businesses. If you are interested in more economic boycotts, here is a great source of who to boycott and why.

You can read old newsletters on our blog and see events on our calendar on our website. As always, never hesitate to reach out at any time. Remember YOU are an important part of the community and aren’t alone. I hope to see you at some of our upcoming events.
