Your Voice Matters: Newsletter

Fremont County CO Indivisible Community,

With current events going on, emotions are high. Maybe you are feeling full of despair and hopelessness, angry, scared, sad, or any number of things. And I want you to know your feelings are completely valid. It can be a scary world being constantly bombarded with news that makes us fearful, enraged, and depressed. It makes sense to feel any or all of these things. But please know you are not alone. We are going to get through this together. And speaking up, alongside one another, we can spread courageousness and hope. With that in mind, I invite you to join us for a few events.

This Saturday, September 20, 2025 we will have a table at Florence Pioneer Day. We would love for you to come out and say hi. We have stickers and flyers, maybe even some candy to share.

Then on Sunday, September 21st,  many of us are gathering to have a potluck to celebrate World Peace Day. If you would like more information on that, please respond to this email and I will put you in touch with the person organizing that event.

Penrose Apple Day is on Saturday October 4th, 2025. We are still looking for some volunteers to hang out with us at our table. So please let me know if you’re available at all that day to chat for a couple of hours with folks and help get the word out that Fremont County CO Indivisible exists!

The Blue Crew Social Hour is at World’s End Brewing at 4th and Main in Cañon City the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm. The next one will be October 7th.

There is also a fun Halloween Party we are co-hosting with QUILTBAG. For information and to RSVP please visit email us.

And of course we will once again be joining millions of Americans around the country to say we don’t do kings in America. No Kings 2 will be on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the corner of 9th and Hwy 50. Feel free to bring flags, signs, masks, and all of your friends! There will be police present to help ensure it is a safe, peaceful, and nonviolent protest. But for everyone’s safety, we do respectfully ask that no signs mention Charlie Kirk. Our First Amendment rights are under attack and you can certainly have signs in support of our right to Free Speech, but to keep things peaceful let’s not mention Kirk.  We would also like a few more volunteers who would like to join the Safety Monitors to help ensure everyone is safe and happy. So if you are interested in what that may entail, please email me.

Do you want to make a new sign for this protest? Join us for a sign making party on Saturday, October 11th. Deb and Lynn will be hosting us for some sign making fun and a potluck! You will have to message us for directions and know that the last bit of the road is a gravel road. We will have people willing to shuttle folks from nearby parking if you don’t feel your car is up to the task. So bring a dish and sign making supplies. If you don’t have supplies, just let me know and we can make sure there’s some available for you too!

We are also trying to put together a resource of various boycotts so those interested in speaking with their money have information on which companies to avoid if possible. If there are any groups or resources you feel would be important for that list, please feel free to forward that information to us.

Your voice is important. And together we can be loud!
